Robert

James Brown was baptised on 15^th November 1778 in Lingfield, Surrey. He probably married Elizabeth Sergeant (shown as Sergent) on 5^th January 1802 in Lingfield, Surrey. Elizabeth was baptised on 7^th May 1780 in Lingfield, Surrey, the daughter of Richard & Hannah. (who had children Richard, John, Elizabeth, Sarah, Thomas & Mary with a variety of surnames shown - Sergeant, Sergeson, Sargent). James & Elizabeth were both alive in 1841 and they had four children:
1. Jacob Brown was probably baptised on 4^th April 1802 in Edenbridge, Kent (Source is IGI & unconfirmed). He married Mary Ann Nightingale . Details of Jacob Brown & Mary Ann Nightingale are shown separately.
2. James Brown was probably baptised on 1^st January 1804 in Edenbridge, Kent (Source is IGI & unconfirmed). He probably married firstly Mary Turner on 13^th September 1828 in Lingfield, Surrey. James & Mary had one child (i). He married secondly Sarah Skinner on 4^th May 1833 in Limpsfield, Surrey. Sarah Skinner was the daughter of John and Elizabeth Skinner and was baptised on 7^th March 1813 Westerham Kent. James & Sarah had three children (ii-iv). James was buried on 18^th April 1841 in Limpsfield, Surrey 'aged 37 years'. After James died, Sarah married William King and had a second family in Westerham (shown on 1851 Census for Westerham with two of her 'Brown' children with them).
  1. Mary Ann Brown was baptised on 5^th April 1829 in Limpsfield, Surrey. (PRT show parents as Jas & Mary nee Nightingale- see jacob Brown above, but assume error)
  2. William Brown was baptised on 30^th November 1834 in Limpsfield, Surrey. William possbly died in about May 1904 in Godstone RD, Surrey ('aged 70').
  3. James Brown was baptised on 4^th June 1837 in Limpsfield, Surrey (parents shown as Jas & Sarah from Westerham).
  4. Esther Brown (Hester) was born in about February 1840 and was baptised on 15^th March 1840 in Limpsfield, Surrey.
3. John Brown was probably baptised on 12^th May 1805 in Edenbridge, Kent (Source is IGI & unconfirmed). He possibly married Harriet Gratwick on 4^th July 1830 in Lingfield, Surrey.
4. William Brown was probably baptised on 17^th January 1808 in Edenbridge, Kent (Source is IGI & unconfirmed). He married Elizabeth Illman. Details of William Brown & Elizabeth Illman are shown separately.
Jacob Brown was baptised on 30^th September 1781 in Lingfield, Surrey. He had married Elizabeth Sanders on 8^th October 1801 in Lingfield and prior to that he had been living in Heaver, Kent. Jacob & Elizabeth had one child. Jacob was buried in Lingfield on 27^th January 1804 ('aged 25').
1. William Brown was baptised 13^th December 1801 in Lingfield and he married Jane Mills. Details of William Brown & Jane Mills are shown separately.
William Brown was baptised on 18^th January 1784 in Lingfield, Surrey. He married Mary Tidy. Details of William Brown & Mary Tidy are shown separately as they are direct ancestors.
John Brown was baptised on 20^th August 1786 in Lingfield, Surrey. He possibly married Ann Edwards on 16^th April 1809 in Edenbridge, Kent. John & Ann had five children. John was a shoemaker

3. Joseph Brown was baptised on 5^th June 1814 in Edenbridge, Kent. He probably died in May 1875 in Godstone RD, Surrey ('aged 60').
4. Ann Brown was baptised on 27^th August 1815 in Edenbridge, Kent
5. Edward Brown was baptised on 20^th October 1816 in Edenbridge, Kent
Robert Brown was baptised on 28^th December 1788 in Lingfield, Surrey. He probably married Ann Weller on 29^th January 1813 in Edenbridge, Kent. Robert, (who was a labourer), & Ann lived in High Street, Edenbridge in 1841 and they had nine children. Robert was buried on 1^st January 1845 in Edenbridge, Kent (' aged 56') and Ann was buried on 5^th December 1858 in Edenbridge, Kent (' aged 71, from Westerham').
1. Robert Brown was baptised on 23^rd January 1814 in Edenbridge, Kent. He married Ann. Robert & Ann had one known child.
  1. Harriet Brown (or Harriot) was baptised on 30^th April 1837 in Edenbridge, Kent.
2. Sarah Brown was baptised on 16^th April 1815 in Edenbridge, Kent. She married William Hollands on 16^th April 1836 in Edenbridge, Kent.
3. William Brown was baptised on 30^th June 1816 in Edenbridge, Kent. William married Elizabeth. Details of William Brown & Elizabeth are shown separately.
4. Jane Brown was baptised on 23^rd November 1817 in Edenbridge, Kent. Jane married Charles Holland on 30^th November 1839. She had an child prior to marriage (but probably married father, due to name choice)
  1. Charles Brown was baptised on 9^th June 1839 in Edenbridge, Kent.
5. Elizabeth Brown (Eliza) was baptised on 26^th December 1818 in Edenbridge, Kent. She probably died young
6. Ann Brown was baptised on 19^th December 1822 in Edenbridge, Kent. She had an illegitimate child.
  1. Elizabeth Brown (Eliza) was baptised on 12^th March 1837 in Edenbridge, Kent.
7. Harriet Brown was born in about 1824 in Edenbridge, Kent. She was buried there on 6^th March 1844 ('aged 20').
8. Elizabeth Brown was baptised on 9^th August 1822 in Edenbridge, Kent. She married James Malyan
9. John Brown was baptised on 31^st March 1826 in Edenbridge, Kent and he was buried there on 13^th September 1826 ('aged 6 months').

This Jacob Brown is the only one identified as being born between the years 1728-1761. (age 16 at marriage to age 60 at birth of youngest child). Sources 1-5. This person is very likely to be correct.It appears that the family were initially based in Lingfield, then moved to Edenbridge, Kent (or Hever) and then moved to Limpsfield. All three parishes are adjacent to each other so distances for moves may be very small. Laterly the familes moved to Oxted.
