Jacob Brown was baptised on 23rd November 1712 in Fletching, Sussex (note: SxF show date as September). He was the illegitimate child of Mary Brown of Fletching with no named father.
He married twice. He married firstly Anne Payne (Ann) on 19th November 1738 in East Grinstead, Sussex. He married secondly in later life Mary Shone on 28th July 1771 in East Grinstead (in the register they are shown as widower & widow). Jacob was buried on 19th May 1782 in East Grinstead, Sussex.
Anne Payne was born 22nd July 1714 in West Hoathly, Sussex. She was the daughter of Robert payne & margaret. She was buried on 11th January 1770 in East Grinstead ('Ann, wife of Jacob').
Mary Shone birth details are not known. She was possibly buried on 18th April 1784 in East Grinstead, Sussex
(' a widow').

- William Brown was baptised on 6th May 1741 in East Grinstead, Sussex. He possibly married Sarah Cacket on 3rd May 1764 in Edenbridge, Kent. The marriage was witnessed by John Denman & William Hartley. William & Sarah were possibly mentioned in the Poor Law records- (see Documents - Archives 1). They had one known child :
- Mary Brown was baptised on 14th October 1764 in East Grinstead, Sussex
- James Brown was baptised on 14th December 1743 in East Grinstead, Sussex.
He probably married Ann Horsey on 8th June 1771 in Godstone, Surrey (James is shown as from East Grinstead). Ann was buried on 30th October 1806 ('widow of James'). James and Ann had six children.
- Phillis Brown was baptised on 15th September 1771 in East Grinstead, Sussex and she was buried there on 1st August 1775 ('daughter of James & Ann').
- Edward Brown was baptised on 7th December 1774 in East Grinstead, Sussex and he was buried there on 20th December 1774 ('son of James & Ann').
- Abraham Brown was baptised on 29th January 1776 in East Grinstead, Sussex and he was buried there on 3rd February 1776 ('son of James & Ann').
- Isaac Brown was baptised on 3rd January 1777 in East Grinstead, Sussex. He married Martha Francis on 15th October 1798 in East Grinstead, Sussex. Isaac was buried on 28th August 1803 in East Grinstead, Sussex . Isaac & Martha had three children (ii-iv).

- Isaac Brown was baptised on 18th August 1793 in Horne, Surrey. He was baseborn of Martha Peters of Burstow and was also shown on the Burstow parish register. Isaac was probably buried on 9th September 1870 in West Hoathly, Sussex ('aged 67' ??). He may not have been the son of Isaac
- Mary Ann Brown was baptised on 14th April 1799 in East Grinstead, Sussex.
- Wiliam Brown was baptised on 9th August 1801 in East Grinstead, Sussex.
- Sarah Brown was baptised on 13th February 1803 in East Grinstead, Sussex.
- Pruana Brown was baptised on 6th June 1779 in East Grinstead, Sussex.
- James Brown was baptised on 30th December 1781 in East Grinstead, Sussex and he was buried there on 30th August 1782 ('son of James & Ann').
- Mary Brown was baptised on 26th February 1746 in East Grinstead, Sussex. Mary possibly (see concerns below) married John Brown on 28th October 1766 in East Grinstead, Sussex. Mary possibly witnessed the births of Thomas Faulconer in 1775 & Ann Faulconer in 1777 (see certificate). Mary was probably buried on 10th January 1805 in East Grinstead, Sussex ('widow of John'). Mary & John had three children.
- Sarah Brown was baptised on 5th September 1768 in East Grinstead, Sussex.
- Susanna Brown was baptised on 7th August 1770 in East Grinstead, Sussex.
- Mary Brown was baptised on 16th March 1772 in East Grinstead, Sussex and she was buried there on 11th January 1784 ('daughter of John & Mary' - aged 11). There is a gravestone in East Grinstead churchyard commemorating Mary.
- John Brown was baptised on 29th October 1749 in East Grinstead, Sussex.
