John Stripp & Anne Wheeler were not one of my direct ancestors but they are related to me as later indirect generations of a direct ancestor.

Key Dates:

John Stripp (Stripe) was baptised on 19th May 1799 in Lingfield, Surrey who was the son of John Stripp ( & Mary) who was the son of Francis Stripp (& Susanna) who was the son of William Stripp 1715 & Elizabeth Underhill. He maybe married Anne Wheeler on 3rd November 1821 in Horsted Keynes (shown as Strip - both shown as from Horsted Keynes, but later census shows John from Lingfield & Ann from West Hoathly). John was probably buried on 9th May 1874 in Lingfield, Surrey ('aged 75').

Anne Wheeler birth details are not known.

John & Ann had seven children.
  1. Harriet Stripp (Strip) was baptised on 19th May 1822 in Lingfield, Surrey.She possibly had a child baseborn.
    1. George Paul Stripp (Strip) wasbaptised on 22nd February 1846 in Lingfield, Surrey.
  2. Amelia Stripp (Miley Strip) was baptised on 16th May 1824 in Lingfield, Surrey.
  3. James Stripp (Strip) was baptised on 8th October 1826 in Lingfield, Surrey. He possibly married Sarah Cliffe from Oxted in about November 1853 in Godstone RD, Surrey. James lived in 1871 at Chellows cottage Crowhurst which is where William Brown 1810 & Jane lived in 1851. James probably died in about November 1899 in Godstone RD ('aged 55'-shown as Strip). James & Sarah had eleven children.
    1. Elizabeth Stripp was born in about 1854 probably in Crowhurst, Surrey .
    2. Henry Richard Stripp was born in about May 1857 probably in Crowhurst, Surrey (Godstone RD).
    3. Stephen Stripp was baptised on 25th September 1859 in Crowhurst, Surrey.
    4. Maurice Stripp (Morris Strip) was baptised on 11th August 1861 in Crowhurst, Surrey.
    5. Ellen Stripp was born in about May 1863 and was baptised on 1st November 1863 in Crowhurst, Surrey.
    6. Sarah Stripp (Strip) was baptised on 5th November 1865 in Crowhurst, Surrey.
    7. Anne Stripp (Annie Strip) was baptised on 5th April 1868 in Crowhurst, Surrey and she probably died in November 1870 in Godstone RD ('aged 2'-shown as Annie Strip). (Note: this allocation is guesswork as between census, but timeline fits).
    8. Frank Stripp (Strip) was baptised on 3rd July 1870 in Crowhurst, Surrey.
    9. James Stripp was baptised on 2nd March 1873 in Crowhurst, Surrey.
    10. Frances Stripp was baptised on 3rd May 1874 in Crowhurst, Surrey.
    11. Margaret Stripp was baptised on 2nd July 1876 in Crowhurst, Surrey.
  4. Mary Anne Stripp (Marianne Strip) was baptised on 31st March 1829 in Lingfield, Surrey.
  5. Caroline Stripp (Strip) was baptised on 6th May 1832 in Lingfield, Surrey. She married in about May 1854 in East Grinstead RD, Sussex.
  6. Susanna Stripp (Susannah Strip) was baptised on 22nd February 1835 in Lingfield, Surrey.
  7. Ellen Stripp (Strip) was baptised on 14th July 1839 in Lingfield, Surrey and she was buried on 10th August 1842 in Lingfield, Surrey ('aged 3-Strip).

  1. There were numerous differant spellings of "Stripp" in the parish registers eg (Strip, Stripp, Strype, Stripe, Streape, Strape, Streap). 'Streape' tended to be used up to about 1800, 'Strip' was then normally used to about 1840 and then 'Stripp' became the standard.
