John Payne were one of my 12th generation ancestors.

John Payne was probably born on about 1556 in West Hoathly, Sussex. He was the son of John Payne & Joan Infield. He later lived at Stonelands in West Hoathly, Sussex. He was Executor to his father's 'Will' of 1581. He died on 21st May 1602 (see Archives-PM Inquisition). At his death he owned sixty acres called or known by the name of Stoneland Breaches ( worth annually thirty shillings and four pence) and also a parcel of land (sixty acres) called Long Crofte or Simmes Croftes (worth annually six shillings and eight pence), both in West Hoathly, Sussex.
John had two children.
